An
Update on Villa Marconi |
By
Tessa Derksen |
The
64-bed extension to the original nursing home officially opened in
September 2001. The Marconi Centre, a community centre and events
hall, also opened at this time.
Since then, Villa Marconi has been
successfully functioning and now has 125 residents, with an ever-growing
waiting list. Their goal is to provide a “culturally sensitive
and active home” for the Italian community’s seniors,
as well as acting as a gathering place for the community at large.
Villa Marconi’s Board of Directors,
now led by President Mario Giannetti, continues to raise funds to
“strengthen Villa Marconi’s services and place in the
greater community of Ottawa.”
